My e-cig battery is charged but not working. What’s going on?

e-cig battery charged but not working

Helping you fix any vape battery problems you’re having.

It can be a bit frustrating when you’ve charged up your vaping device’s battery ready to enjoy a couple of hits of your favourite flavour – and it doesn’t work. There could be a number of reasons for this.

We’ll run through the most common causes to try and help you sort why your e-cig battery is charged but not working. After that, we’ve also included a few vape battery safety tips.

Is the vape battery switched on?

It sounds obvious, but the first thing to check is you’ve properly activated the vape battery. Not all vaping devices have the same start-up sequence, but you might have to click the power button three or five times in quick succession to turn it on. This is a safety thing to avoid it getting switched on by accident. The light on the button should flash when being turned on or off.

Vape battery connection problems.

There could be something blocking the connection between the battery and the clearomiser. Try cleaning the battery terminal and end of your clearomiser with a cotton bud.

Another thing to check is that the tank or clearomiser is making contact with the battery terminal. If a previous tank has been screwed on too tightly, the battery pin may need adjusting to make a connection again.

Vape battery cut-off.

To help prevent your vaping device’s battery from overloading, there’s a standard cut-out feature. The light flashes when it’s activated. This might be because you did a hard draw. Try gentler, longer draws to prevent this. If the cut-out happens, you should be good to vape again after about 10–30 seconds.

Dud coil.

Your coil’s stopped working. Even if it’s brand new, it could be faulty. But before you replace it, just check it’s screwed in properly, if it is, then swap it for a new coil.

Vape battery is damaged.

There are several things that can cause damage to vape batteries, including:

  • Temperature. If vape batteries get too hot or cold, they can become damaged. Store them in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
  • Contact with metallic objects. This can cause vape batteries to short circuit, so keep any loose batteries away from items such as coins and keys.
  • Wrong vaping device or charger. Putting a vape battery in a device that’s not compatible can result in damage. The same applies when charging the battery using an incorrect charger.
  • Torn wrappers. If the protective wrappers surrounding the vape batteries are ripped, they are more susceptible to damage.
  • Water damage. As with anything electronic, exposure to water is likely to cause damage.

Vape battery is dead.

Unfortunately, sometimes there’s nothing you can do – it’s simply dead. Most batteries have a shelf-life and after so many charges, it can’t take anymore.

A few vape battery safety tips.

  • Don’t leave your charging vape batteries unattended. Like when you charge your mobile phone or tablet, it’s always best if you’re around ‘just in case’ something happens.
  • Always use the supplied vape battery charger that’s compatible with your vaping device’s battery.
  • Don’t charge your vape batteries on combustible materials like carpets and sofas.
  • Unplug your vape batteries as soon as they are charged.
  • For added peace of mind, charge your batteries inside a lipo bag, it will provide extra protection in the unlikely event anything goes wrong.
  • If your vape batteries are damaged (even slightly) – do not use them.
  • Dispose of any damaged or dead batteries responsibly.

Is your vape battery still not working?

These aren’t the only reasons why your vape battery might not work, even if it’s fully charged, but they are the main culprits. Hopefully, by trying one (or a couple of them) your vaping device is back up and running so you can enjoy a well-earned vape again. If it’s not, don’t despair. 1. Hello,
Just leaving this here in case it helps anyone.
My e-cig batteries had failed, so it seemed, all at the same time. After some testing of other batteries and some annoyance, I changed the cart at the top. This worked, even though the other cart worked fine with a different batter. I hope this helps!

  2. My brand new blizzard vape pen used to charge and now it blinks 20 times when I plug it in and doesn’t hit anymore

  3. I have a dot pro it was working fine then I charged it in the car and now it won’t work the light is on constantly but then gos off and won’t vape when you add the top pod can any one help explain this please as Google isn’t giving me anything to explain it

    • The light being constantly on isn’t a good thing; have you looked to see if any liquid is on the connectors in the section of the battery where the pod sits? You can see if you can clear the activation switch by blowing through the charging ending (sounds a bit odd), this will push any liquid out of the unit. Failing that, I would send us a support request using our ticket system for a warranty on the device, you can do this here – https://libertyflights.kayako.com/Tickets/Submit

  4. My for pro was working fine then I charged it in the car and it won’t work light is constantly on but fl8ckers on and off when you put the pod on and try to vape is it fixable

  5. Same problem as Jess there it’s fully charged you screw it in it flashes no burning noise it goes off

  6. Hi I bought a brand new playboy vape machine it’s charged when it’s not screwed in it turns on when I screw it in and I press the button it flashes goes off and it does not make the burning noise like my old one I think there is something wrong with my battery

    • Hello Feroz, that isn’t one of our devices, but I will try to help. Your issue could either be due to a poor connection with the battery centre pin that is causing a short, an issue with the coil or wiring in the battery. Did the battery work before? I would first try a new atomizer or coil; I think your device uses a heating element that is similar to a ce4 (does it like like one found on this link CE4-eGo-Clearomizer-Cotton-Wick ). If another heating element does not work, you can try raising the centre pin battery as it might not be making good contact with the heating element; this is not too hard to do, but you need to be careful not to pull the centre pin of the battery out. If none of these work, then the issue could be internal to the battery; does the battery smell at all?

  7. Hi I have just brought a brand nee NVee pro 2 and it will not work. It has never been used was in a sealed box ? Help is needed please . I bought this from my local shop.

      • Sarah, did you ring on a Saturday or Sunday? Our support team is not in the office on weekends, you can use the support tool to place a ticket. I believe that when you ring during none office hours, the system tells you that we are not available to take your call.

  8. My DOT vape was perfectly fine and the battery went out normally, when I tried to charged it the light just flashed several times and then went out,
I have tried it 3 more times (each one every 30 min).
What it’s the problem or/and what can I do to fix it ?

  9. I’ve never used the dot pro I’ve just gotten. Cleaned the plates like suggested on the website and done everything else the website suggests to get it working. It’s fully charged and it’s a new pod. The dot pro won’t have its led on when you try and inhale and it won’t produce any vapour.

  10. Hello. I have sent two emails about a faulty product and heard no response – could somebody reply to me please?
